GETTING STARTED
I only have a rough sketch or idea. Is that enough to start?+
Absolutely. A rough sketch, a photo of something similar, a napkin drawing, or even just a written description is a perfectly fine starting point. We've turned ideas described in a few sentences into finished products. The more you can share, the better — but there's no minimum level of detail required to reach out.
Do I need to know anything about engineering or manufacturing?+
Not at all. That's exactly what we're here for. We handle all the technical work — 3D design, structural engineering, material selection, manufacturing method, mould design and production. You focus on your vision; we handle the rest. We explain everything in plain language at every step.
How do I get started?+

Is my idea safe? What if you copy it?+
We sign a mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before any project discussion begins. Your idea belongs to you, and we take confidentiality very seriously. All files, designs and communications are kept strictly private.
DESIGN & ENGINEERING
What software do you use for 3D design?+
We primarily work in SolidWorks and Fusion 360 for mechanical product design, and ZBrush or Blender for character, figurine and art toy modelling. We can deliver files in STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, or any other format you need.
What is DFM and why does it matter?+
DFM stands for Design for Manufacturing. It means we engineer every component specifically for how it will be made — checking wall thickness, draft angles, parting lines, undercuts, snap fits, tolerances and material behaviour. Without DFM, a design that looks perfect on screen can be impossible or very expensive to manufacture. We build DFM into every project from day one.
Can you reverse-engineer an existing product?+
Yes. If you have a physical product you want to improve, replicate, or use as a reference, we can measure it and create a clean 3D CAD model. We can also 3D scan complex shapes if needed. Please note that we only work on products you own the rights to.
How many revision rounds are included?+
Our standard packages include one or two revision rounds. Additional revisions are charged at our hourly rate. The best way to minimise revisions is to give us as much detail as possible upfront — reference images, dimensions, material preferences, and examples of products you like.
PROTOTYPING
What's the difference between a 3D printed prototype and a moulded prototype?+
A 3D printed prototype is produced directly from your digital file without any tooling. It's fast, affordable, and great for checking shape, size and basic function. A moulded prototype uses the actual production tooling and material, so it looks and feels exactly like the final product. We recommend starting with 3D printing for early testing, then moving to a moulded sample when you're ready to confirm the production version.
Can you paint and finish the prototype to look like the final product?+
Yes. We offer painted, sanded, primed and finished prototypes that closely resemble the final production appearance. This is especially useful for investor presentations, crowdfunding campaigns and product photography. Finishing options include spray painting, hand painting, chrome plating, and custom colour matching.
How long does a prototype take?+
A simple 3D printed prototype can be ready in 3–7 business days. A more complex prototype involving multiple components, finishing, or CNC machining typically takes 2–4 weeks. Resin-cast figurines and art toys usually take 2–3 weeks including finishing. We always give you a specific timeline in your quote.
MANUFACTURING & MOULDS
What is the minimum order quantity for injection moulding?+
There is no universal minimum, but injection moulding becomes cost-effective at around 500 pieces or more. The mould itself is a one-time investment (typically US$3,000–$15,000 depending on complexity), and then each part is very inexpensive. For quantities below 500, we usually recommend 3D printing or urethane casting instead.
How long does mould-making take?+
A standard aluminium prototype mould typically takes 3–5 weeks. A production steel mould takes 6–10 weeks. Die-cast moulds take 8–12 weeks. These timelines include mould design, machining, polishing, trial shots and first article inspection. We manage the entire process and keep you updated at every stage.
Can I start with 3D printing and switch to injection moulding later?+
Yes — and this is actually the approach we recommend. We design your product with the final manufacturing method in mind from the start, so when you're ready to move to injection moulding, the design is already optimised and there's no need for expensive redesign work.
Which manufacturing method is right for my product?+
It depends on your product type, material, quantity and budget. As a general guide: 3D printing for 1–500 pieces, injection moulding for plastic parts at 500+ pieces, die-cast for metal parts at 500+ pieces, metal stamping for thin sheet metal at 1,000+ pieces, investment casting for complex metal shapes at 50+ pieces, CNC machining for precision parts at any quantity. We always advise you on the best path after reviewing your specific product.
Do you manage the supplier and factory, or do I have to?+
We manage everything. We source and qualify the manufacturer, negotiate pricing, oversee the mould build, run first article inspection, and manage quality control during production. You receive updates and approve key milestones, but you don't need to deal with factories directly.
PRICING & TIMELINE
How much does it cost to develop a product?+
It depends heavily on the complexity of your product and how far you want to take it. A simple 3D design starts from US$300. A design-and-prototype package typically runs US$500–3,000. A full design-to-production program including mould and first batch can range from US$5,000 to US$50,000+. We give you a detailed, itemised quote after our free discovery call.
Do I have to pay everything upfront?+
No. We work in milestones. Typically we require a 50% deposit to begin, with the balance due on delivery of each milestone. For larger projects we split payments across multiple stages. We never ask for full payment before work begins.
How long does the full process take from idea to finished product?+
A simple product with 3D printing only can be completed in 2–4 weeks. A product going through design, engineering, prototype and injection mould typically takes 3–5 months. A complex product with electronics, multiple components or custom tooling can take 6–12 months. We always give you a realistic timeline upfront and flag any risks early.
COMMUNICATION & IP
Where are you based? Can you work with clients worldwide?+
We operate as a global remote studio and work with clients in 30+ countries. All communication happens via email and video call. We use shared project management tools so you always have visibility on progress, files and feedback. Time zone differences are never a barrier — we accommodate your schedule.
What languages do you work in?+
We work in English and Traditional Chinese (繁體中文). Our team is fully bilingual and all project documents, quotes and communications can be provided in either language.
Who owns the design files and intellectual property?+
You do. Once a project is paid in full, all design files, CAD models, engineering drawings, and associated intellectual property belong to you. We retain no rights to your designs. We also recommend filing a patent or design registration before going to production — we can refer you to IP professionals if needed.
